What’s the story?

When Representative Jamie Raskin asked Epstein survivors, during a Congressional hearing, if they had never been contacted by Pam Bondi, or the Department of Justice, Sky and Amanda Roberts stood and raised their hands.

The attorney general shuffled her papers and refused to face the group, standing just a few metres behind her.

Sky Roberts is the brother of Virginia Giuffre, Amanda is his wife, and they are both part of a campaign to bring Jeffrey Epstein’s associates, named in the Epstein Files, to justice relating to the trafficking, rape and abuse of women and girls.

“It was a very surreal moment for us.” Sky Roberts tells Emily Maitlis.

“You have the Attorney General of the United States sitting three feet in front of you, and the lack of acknowledgement – she wouldn't make eye contact with any survivors. It just felt very inhuman.

“Let's take the politics out of this for a moment, and think of the human side, that's what I was most disappointed in, is the fact that she wouldn't even acknowledge survivors.”

During the hearing, Bondi refused to answer questions about the DoJ’s investigation into the rich and powerful men named in the Epstein Files, and claimed the US stock markets were more important than victims of abuse.

“The best way to describe it was a clown show. She kept deflecting,” he says.

“This administration genuinely doesn't care and they're gaslighting.”

Roberts says that since the Congressional hearing there has still been no contact from Bondi or any representative from the Department of Justice – nor does he expect there to be. He says neither he, nor any of the Epstein survivors, have any trust in the DoJ.

‘Andrew should be investigated – and be behind bars if guilty’

But while there has been no contact from the DoJ in America, Robert and other survivors have been contacted by the head of London's Metropolitan Police in relation to allegations against Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

“I think King Charles has done an amazing job of putting pressure on [Andrew], but there's no way he should be living where he's living and still holding the esteem that he has,” Sky Roberts says.

“I know he's been stripped of his titles, but he looks like he's still pretty comfortable these days.

“For somebody that may have committed these types of crimes, there should be a more thorough investigation that takes place, and if it is found that he's implicated, then he needs to be put behind bars.”

In the UK, focus on Andrew has been on allegations that while serving as trade envoy for the UK, he passed sensitive information to Jeffrey Epstein – rather than allegations that he was also involved in the convicted sex offender's crimes directly. Andrew has denied all claims made against him.

Sky Roberts says the trade envoy allegations should serve as a "starting point" for investigations into both Andrew, and former Labour MP Peter Mandelson.

“This is the tipping point. It's starting the conversation,” he says.

“Every single person should be investigated, follow the money, and if it's found that they've committed alternative crimes, they should be prosecuted for those as well.”

Epstein Files a ‘Vindictation’ for Virgina Giuffre

Only one person has ever been sentenced in relation to Epstein’s crimes – Ghislaine Maxwell. It was an email from the convicted sex trafficker, included in the Epstein Files, which confirmed a photo of Andrew with Virginia Giuffre was genuine. The former Royal has always insisted it was a fake.

“The releasing of the files has allowed survivors vindication, and to still speak up in ways that they couldn't before,” says Amanda Roberts.

“This is what Virginia has been saying the entire time. The vindication with the Ghislaine Maxwell email, her confirming that the photo was real and that it was taken at her flat – it's the same thing Virginia had said this entire time.”

During the hearing in Congress, Roberts says several representatives walked out when some of the files were discussed, claiming they were "petrified" by what was stated, and how it might implicate them.

“They were horrified, and finally got a taste of what we've been screaming about, what survivors, what Virginia have been screaming about for years,” Amanda Roberts adds.

“I don't feel that they can sleep comfortably at night without pushing this thing forward.”

‘There’s a chance these people are still hurting others’

Despite extreme reluctance from the Trump administration to take action against the rich and powerful accused of criminal activity from what has been uncovered in the Epstein Files, Roberts says the people of America will not allow this to be swept under the rug.

Additionally, Amanda Roberts believes that some of those involved in the rape and abuse of women in collaboration with Epstein may still be committing criminal acts.

“No one wakes up being a rapist or a child rapist and then decides they're not going to do it any more because Jeffrey Epstein is dead,” she adds.

“I think that there's still a chance that these people are out there hurting others still.”
