In brief...

  • Rudy Giuliani claims to have evidence that Joe Biden "stole" the 2020 election, among other unsubstantiated statements.
  • Giuliani has faced significant legal issues, including disbarment, bankruptcy, and sexual assault charges, and insists he is treated unfairly compared to Democrats.
  • Speaking with Emily Maitlis at the 2024 Republican National Convention, Giuliani reiterated his accusations against Biden and criticised the Democratic Party for allegedly ending democracy in America.

Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump's former lawyer, has told The News Agents he has evidence in his home that Joe Biden "stole" the 2020 election from the Republican nominee.

Joe Biden did not steal the election, and claims of fraudulent voting, or "missing ballot papers" have been widely debunked by experts in the four years since Biden entered The White House.

Giuliani made his claims while speaking to Emily Maitlis at the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC), where Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the official Republican candidate for November's election, and JD Vance was announced as his running-mate.

"Joe Biden stole that election," Giuliani insisted.

"I've got the evidence in my home. I was cut off in court, I've been prosecuted for it. I have the evidence.

"Just three weeks ago, the state of Georgia announced that there are 375,000 missing ballots."

This, like many of the comments Giuliani made to The News Agents, is an unsubstantiated claim.

Reports of "missing" ballots in Georgia, which Biden won, have been repeatedly debunked by US journalists and experts, but continue to be shared on social media. In December 2023 the number of alleged "missing" ballots was 20,713.

Giuliani also claimed to have "evidence" that President Biden had taken bribes, but again did not back up his claims.

The former lawyer had his license suspended in the state of New York in 2021 in an investigation into attempts to overturn Biden's win in the 2020 election, and was eventually disbarred in the state in July 2024.

He claims the Democratic Party has "ended" democracy in America.

"I don't get the same justice a Democrat gets," he says.

"As a Republican, I have been completely treated totally differently and had civil cases against me where I didn't even get a chance to defend myself.

Giuliani recently filed for bankruptcy, but had his case thrown out of court due to "uncooperative conduct". He has been ordered to pay $148 million to two election workers he defamed.

He is also facing sexual assault charges by a former worker, which he strenuously denies.

The 80-year-old attacked Joe Biden once again while speaking with Emily, saying: "Donald Trump did not prosecute his predecessor. It's Joe Biden who did that."

Donald Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama, did not pay adult movie actress Stormy Daniels hush money, was not accused of inciting an insurrection on 6 January 2021 and did not face any criminal investigations after he left The White House, that much is true.

He describes Biden as "the most dishonest, most dishonourable president in our history."
