What’s the story?
We know where Donald Trump was on 9/11.
He was sat in Trump Tower, speaking to TV news, and boasting that he now owned the tallest building in downtown Manhattan.
But that’s not the story he’s running with in 2026. Now he claims he was caught up in the terrorist attack, and was pulled from the rubble by “two firemen, big strong arms” because the building was “coming down on top of us”.
The attack on the World Trade Centre caused the deaths of 2,996 people when al-Qaeda terrorists flew two passenger planes into the Twin Towers. It is the deadliest terror attack in world history, but even that’s not off limits for more make-believe from the US president.
"That would be funny if it wasn't actually so f**king sick," says Emily Maitlis.
"This is at a memorial speech, and it was to honour those who died on September the 11th."
"Of course Trump turns up and makes the whole thing about him, not just him, but a complete fabrication of where he actually was when the Twin Towers came down."
Maitlis adds there’s one thing that The News Agents can be sure of about Trump on 11 September 2001, he was somewhere safe, and engaging in his favourite pastime.
“We can verify that Trump definitely was watching television on the morning of the attacks,” she says.
